What is nudity

What is Nudity, what harm is done if someone sees you naked?
Does it detract from you if your naked body is seen by others?

This blog has been seen over a hundred thousand times and hasn't made a difference to the way people view Maja (or me).  There isn't much of her that hasn't been seen, but it makes no difference. plus a lot of people have seen her in the flesh.

This brings me to a question, I was reading somewhere else a woman who had let her boyfriend take nude photos of her. Then they parted and she was worried about him pasting her pictures all over the internet.

That got me thinking, first is why take them if they weren't intended to be seen, second some are worried about blackmail. well maybe once, but when they've shown them once there is no threat.

Many will happily go for a naked massage, but if someone were to accidentally touch them they'd scream the place down.

our relationship with our bodies is ambivalent at best. So many people are afraid of their own skin.

How would you feel about a totally clothes free society?

it would be good for the environment, clothing manufacture is terrible fo pollution and carbon.

it would be good for getting rid flashers, no point in flashing someone who is already nude.

It was good to hear from you again. I sincerely believe that there should be absolutely NO laws against public nudity! In addition there SHOULD be laws against anyone harassing another person for being nude in public. One of the big problems in society is people not brought up in a world where nudity is common. It appears that our laws are getting more restrictive instead of promoting this healthy attitude.

Gerald, I think you are right. there are two possible reasons; first) I've noticed that these things are like a pendulum. At one side of the swing all is going the way you want it. But at the other end of the swing it all turns against us.
Second) it may be to do with the Muslim influence as nudity is against their religion.

Chilly, I think, John. Realistically clothing is an environmental necessity in most climates. I do think it would be valuable to normalize mixed gender non-sexual nudity in certain spaces. Regular exposure to nudity should eliminate the curiosity that acts as a gateway into porn, for a start. In terms of suitable spaces; swimming pools come to mind, swimming costumes range from pointless to advertising what is being "concealed". Public parks, but we already sort of have that, it just not being used. There's probably a critical mass effect there. Another possibility would be as part of religious expression. Could be Christian, if Christians would actually read their scriptures (as R.A. Heinlein points out in "Number of the Beast") but most likely some variety of paganism becoming mainstream (Wicca tends that way) or Christopaganism.

It would be useful to get a female perspective here, as women are more likely to report feeling uncomfortable or intimidated by others looking (the "male gaze"). What does Maja think?
